Jami Tatum Photography Available

Jami Tatum Photography handles the technical and logistical hurdles that accompany working with unpredictable portrait subjects, ranging from week-old infants to active young siblings and busy professionals. Clients in Trussville and the broader Birmingham area typically present time-sensitive developmental windows or concerns regarding uncooperative children in front of unfamiliar studio lighting equipment. Studio newborn photography requires careful temperature moderation, safe infant-soothing protocols, and patience when feedings interrupt shooting rhythm, while milestone sessions demand rapid focal adjustments and adaptable strobe lighting to record fast-moving children without motion blur.

To resolve common styling dilemmas and alleviate pre-session anxiety, the studio implements a structured consultation workflow. Once an appointment is confirmed, clients receive an extensive session-planning guide alongside access to specialized styling software that takes the guesswork out of coordinating multi-person wardrobes. For maternity portraits and professional headshots, the workflow shifts toward sculpted lighting that accentuates silhouette and facial structure, troubleshooting wardrobe contrast against neutral backdrops. During milestone assignments and first-year cake smashes, the studio supplies a curated inventory of backdrops, wraps, and props emphasizing earthy, bohemian tones. Tatum, who built her technical grounding over fifteen years after taking up manual camera exposure in 2009, manages pacing in real time, adjusting flash output and modifying composition to turn high-energy toddler unpredictability into composed visual narratives.

Post-session image processing focuses on hand-retouching skin tones, balancing ambient warmth, and delivering clean, color-accurate digital files suitable for large-format archival printing. Completed galleries are distributed through secure download portals with included personal print releases. Standard gallery turnaround runs approximately two to three weeks, though expedited processing can be requested for time-critical birth announcements or commercial marketing collateral. Because newborn sessions require pliable, soundly sleeping infants who are ideally between seven and fourteen days old, parents should initiate scheduling during the second trimester to ensure tentative calendar placement around fluctuating hospital discharge dates.
