While the studio does not tailor men’s suits or take on bulky residential furniture such as overstuffed recliners, it handles complex bridal gowns, delicate evening wear, custom curtain panels, and marine cushion upholstery.

Formalwear adjustments, particularly wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses, follow a structured fitting schedule designed to preserve structural integrity while adjusting volume and drape. Gowns featuring lace overlays, multi-layered chiffon, or extended trains undergo a step-by-step diagnostic fitting to mark seam adjustments, bodice contouring, and custom bustle engineering. Peterson includes two dedicated fittings in every formalwear project to fine-tune hem lines and waist balance, ensuring the garment moves comfortably without dragging. Beyond special occasions, Peterson handles zipper replacements, seam mending, garment restyling, and one-on-one sewing coaching.

The workshop operates on an hourly foundation of $45 per hour for sewing, tailoring, and small upholstery, paired with a modest $20 shop minimum. This time-and-materials model ensures clients pay strictly for the actual labor required rather than inflated flat-rate assumptions. Peterson includes up to two hours of complimentary project consultation and fabric sourcing assistance for complex projects. When production timelines tighten within two weeks of an event date, a defined $100 rush fee applies to accommodate accelerated bench time without compromising stitching standards.

Before arriving at the south Minneapolis fitting studio, clients must ensure all garments are freshly laundered or dry-cleaned. Formalwear clients need to bring the exact undergarments, shapewear, and event shoes planned for the occasion, as even a quarter-inch difference in heel height or foundation structure alters hem lengths and bodice drape. Consultations require advance booking through the studio's Tuesday through Saturday schedule, alongside a signed formalwear agreement and a $100 good faith deposit for bridal and prom attire.
