Key Summary: We don't sell your data. In Local Mode, your client and timer data never leaves your device. In Cloud and Pro modes, your information is encrypted in transit and at rest. We only use third-party services like Stripe for payment processing.

a) Free Local Mode Users

If you use RateRun locally without creating an account or signing in, all your client names, timer logs, earnings, and invoice records are stored strictly in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB / LocalStorage). We do not transmit, view, or store this data on our servers.

b) Registered Account Information

When you register for a RateRun Cloud or Pro account, we collect:

Your email address and chosen username/password (encrypted via salted hash).
Your business profile name and optional company details (for invoice headers).
App settings such as default currency, hourly rate preferences, and theme choices.

c) Payment and Billing Information

If you subscribe to RateRun Pro, payment processing is handled exclusively by our payment partner, Stripe, Inc. We never store or handle your credit card numbers, CVVs, or bank details. Stripe collects and processes payment card information under their own privacy policy and PCI-DSS compliance.

d) Directory Listings

If you submit or claim a business listing on the RateRun Directory, the information you publicly provide (business name, category, city/location, public website, and business description) will be published in our public directory. We protect contact emails from scrapers and robots.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information strictly to:

Provide, maintain, and synchronize your freelance workspace across devices.
Process subscriptions, manage invoicing features, and issue receipts via Stripe.
Send essential transactional notifications (password resets, payment receipts, subscription updates).
Prevent fraud, abuse, and automated spam.

3. Third-Party Service Providers

We only share data with vetted third-party infrastructure providers necessary to operate RateRun:

Stripe: Payment processing and subscription management (Stripe Privacy Policy).
Transactional Email Providers: For delivering account verification, password resets, and client invoices sent via our platform.

4. Data Retention & Security

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If your paid subscription ends or payment fails, your account is downgraded to the Free tier after a grace period. We do not erase your work or client data upon cancellation, allowing you to access your records anytime.

5. Your Rights (GDPR & Global Privacy)
