Kristi's Flowers & Gifts Available

Kristi's Flowers & Gifts manages botanical assembly and commercial floristry out of its Joy Road workshop in Redford Township, emphasizing post-harvest stem handling and structural mechanics. Rather than treating cut florals as simple retail goods, the shop approaches stems through strict temperature control and hydration protocols. Inbound wholesale shipments undergo immediate unpacking, stem sorting, and precision 45-degree angle cutting under clean conditions to eliminate air embolisms in the vascular xylem. Stems are then immersed in conditioned water treated with specific bactericide and nutrient formulations, adjusting pH levels between 3.5 and 4.5 to optimize fluid uptake before placement in dedicated floral coolers calibrated between thirty-four and thirty-eight degrees Fahrenheit.

Arrangement construction balances physical mass against mechanical stability. For structured centerpieces, casket saddles, and standing easel sprays, the team deploys calibrated floral wire gauges, waterproof binding tape, and stable armature frameworks like coated wire netting or saturated phenolic foam blocks. Complex custom assignments requiring fragile open-bloom garden roses, calla lilies, or woody stems require tailored conditioning techniques, including boiling water searing for woody stems or calcium-based strengthening baths for delicate petal structures. Structural foliage like eucalyptus and salal establishes the load-bearing foundation, while focal blooms receive anti-transpirant finishes to restrict moisture loss under ambient indoor lighting and air currents.

Custom commissions begin with an intake assessment that catalogues the final display environment, factoring in ambient room temperatures, ventilation drafts, and vehicle transit windows. Standard daily orders typically require a two- to four-hour processing lead time so stems can properly temper upon exiting cold refrigeration, whereas large-scale memorial tributes or wedding packages necessitate at least two to three weeks of advance planning to secure specific grower allocations. Clients arranging custom event pieces should arrive prepared with physical color swatches, venue delivery window limits, and tabletop dimensions to permit accurate stem counts and eliminate last-minute floral substitutions.
